Play for the Reign
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Ben Frank
As President of the Ontario Jr. Reign, I could not be more pleased to introduce you to our organization. A successful junior hockey program must possess both the drive to win championships and the core value of creating better people as a result of the team experience.
Under the leadership of Head Coach and General Manager Jeremy Blumes, our program continues to grow successfully each season while staying true to our core values of development, structure, and accountability both on and off the ice.
We are also proud to take the next step in our organization’s growth with our elevation to the NCDC (Tier II Junior A Hockey), continuing to raise the standard and opportunities available to our players.
Great things are ahead for our organization and we are ready to welcome you.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Located between sunny Los Angeles and Palm Springs, our players benefit from a Southern California environment that supports performance, recovery, and consistency. With year-round training conditions and access to a major market, players can stay focused, develop at a high level, and avoid the wear and tear that often comes with the traditional junior hockey path.
Our identity is built on competition and structure. Players develop in a demanding, detail-oriented environment, supported by a full complement of experienced professional coaches, where the standard is simple — team first, get better every day, and enjoy the process.
We are equally committed to making an impact in the community — developing better people and strengthening the bond that carries over to how we compete.
Players live with carefully vetted host families — not dorms or apartments — providing a stable, structured environment that supports both on-ice performance and off-ice growth.
For those looking to be challenged and prepared for what comes next, the Ontario Jr. Reign offers a proven path.

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Jeremy Blumes brings over 25 seasons of experience as a player, coach, scout, and executive across Junior A hockey, Midget AAA, and elite development programs.
Blumes currently serves as Head Coach and General Manager of the Ontario Jr. Reign (NCDC), while also overseeing the full development pathway as President of Hockey Operations for Ice Realm Hockey’s Elite Stream, which includes the Reign, San Diego Sabers, and St. John Bosco Prep.
Blumes has coached at multiple levels including the AJHL, SJHL, KIJHL, and U18 AAA, developing players who have advanced to Junior A, NCAA, USports, WHL, and professional hockey. He is known for building programs and creating structure-driven environments that demand accountability and produce results. After earning a U18 Alberta Provincial Championship and being named Hockey Calgary’s Coach of the Year, he took over the dormant Wheatland Kings program, recruiting an entire team from scratch and leading them on a deep playoff run. In the KIJHL, he orchestrated one of the most significant turnarounds in junior hockey history with the Golden Rockets, taking a 3-win team to the playoffs with 20 rookie recruits, many of whom advanced to Junior A or college programs.
Blumes was hired in mid-July to build the Ontario Jr. Reign expansion team, relocated immediately, and assembled a full roster in just six weeks before the season began in September. The group pushed into the playoffs on the final night of the regular season, establishing the standard for the program. Over the next four seasons, that standard has held— a combined record of 137-39-6, three consecutive finals appearances, two Pacific division championships, along with two National Championship tournament berths. In 2026, he was named Pacific Division Coach of the Year. During that time more than 40 players from the program have advanced to higher levels of junior, college and professional hockey. His teams are defined by their willingness to compete and their commitment to play within the team's structure. That level of sustained success has led to the program’s elevation to Tier 2 Junior A (NCDC), beginning with the 2026–27 season.
Off the ice, Blumes emphasizes development through meaningful community involvement. Reign players take an active role in local schools and community initiatives, building leadership skills and gaining real-world experience. This includes programs like Road Hockey Rulez! along with other outreach efforts across the area. These experiences strengthen the group and build the culture that defines the
OJR experience.
Jeremy lives in Southern California with his wife, Amanda McPherson, and their loyal golden
retriever, Bingo.

He began competitive play at age 7 and grew through the ranks, winning a State Championship at the Pee Wee level and competing in major events like the Pacific Coast Regionals and the NAPHL Nationals. He was honored to be selected as the Pacific Region's top goalie and earned other recognitions along the way. He later played in the USPHL, WSHL, and briefly in the NAHL.

Host Homes
Our players come from all over the world. During the season they need a place to call home while they represent Ontario. We believe that our young men are best situated in homes with supportive families, not in large dorm-type settings.
Our billet coordinator and “team mom” is Amanda McPherson, Coach Blumes' wife. Amanda has found a number of terrific families in the inland empire that provides our players with the necessary structure to thrive during the demanding season. Living away from family can be a big change. Our billets provide a friendly, welcoming, and healthy home atmosphere, Nutritious meals, and a stable place for our player to pursue their studies and relax from the demands of playing junior hockey.

“Playing for the Reign was an experience I won’t forget for a long time. The weather is what brought me to Ontario but the teammates and friends I made along the way are what made me stay.”

Andrew Cervantes
“This year has been a roller coaster of emotions. Going from injury to injury I wasn't sure if I would have bounced back without the support of this organization. The coaches and teammates I met here are more than peers and elders, they became family. I look forward to the future of this team.”

Junah Croteau
“Playing for the Reign is about gaining experience as a player, but also growing up as a person. During a season, there are always highs and lows but the staff is always there to build on the positive and help the team achieve their maximum potential.”
