Trnka Blanks Lakers In 6-0 Win
The Ontario Jr Reign (13-4-0) dominated the Laker Tahoe Lakers (8-8-0) for the second night in a row with a 6-0 shutout.
For Ontario it was more of the same story from the previous night, they executed on special teams, controlled the puck, shot the hell out of the puck, and scored a bunch. It has been the same recipe that has carried them on their nine game winning streak, it is pretty extraordinary how long the Jr Reign have continued this very high level of play. They have won by an average of 4.6 goals in their last nine games, and have won by at least three goals in eight of those games.
The Jr Reign have been the only team to shutout the Lakers’ offense this season and they have done it twice. Both times have been behind the glove, pads, and stick of Matus Trnka in front of the net. Trnka seems to have the Lakers’ number this season with 45 saves in both his starts against the Lakers.
Special teams continued to be a strength for this Jr Reign team as they scored on the powerplay at least once and were perfect on the PK once again.
Chris Lai got Ontrio’s first two goals of the night and was the leading scorer of the night. Rhys Doyle found the back of the net after his two goal performance from a night ago. Nicholas Fiolleau and Mason Welsh also scored in the second period. The icing on the cake was yet another goal by Kaedin Larocque-Wolfe on the power play as he continued his chase for the top of the goal scoring leaderboard.
The Jr Reign wrap up this three game winning streak in Lake Tahoe tomorrow at 12 p.m. PST and then it is off to Bakersfield for two against the third place Roughnecks to finish this five game road trip. Watch your Ontario Jr Reign tomorrow and all season long on flohockey.tv.
