Tristan Lam’s Triumphant Return: Local Hockey Hero Joins the Jr. Reign for ‘23-’24 Season

by Callum Kemlo

The Ontario Jr. Reign are pleased to announce that local forward Tristan Lam has signed with the team for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. Tristan joins the team following a successful season split between the Utica Jr. Comets and the Bellingham Blazers, other members of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL).

Born in nearby Sierra Madre, Tristan weighs in at 5'9" and 181 lbs. A right-shooting forward, Tristan brings not only speed to the Jr. Reign, but also has a scoring touch familiar to the USPHL. Last season, Tristan scored 12 goals and 19 assists for a total of 31 points in 36 games for a rate of 0.86 points per game. Tristan spent 4 years playing for Bishop's College School, splitting his time with the U16 team and the varsity team. Tristan describes himself as “a smart player, I think making the right decision is more important than throwing the puck around aimlessly.”

Tristan had this to say about joining the Reign: “It feels great. It’s been quite a while since I’ve played near home, so it feels refreshing to finally be in the area I grew up in and play competitive hockey.”

When asked about the Lam signing, Head Coach and General Manager Jeremy Blumes said “Lam is an explosive skater with an extra gear that will prove difficult to defend, he is a young man with a clear objective both on and off the ice and we believe this will be a great fit for both the player and team.”

Tristan has an ultimate goal of playing collegiate hockey while continuing his education with a focus on business and kinesiology.
