Reign vanquish the Monsters to take the series

Thursday, February 10 Game Recap: 

The first game of the weekend was on Thursday, Feb.10, the Jr. Reign lost the first of the three games by a score of 6-9. Even though the Reign lost a tough first game, they had five different goal scorers. Led by Junah Croteau who racked up four points on the night with two goals and two assists, and four other Reign players with a multi-point night. 

The Monsters came out strong scoring three goals in the first period, four in the second period, and two in the third. Two Monsters centers had a two-goal night, Narek Aleksanyan, and Jacob Gagnon. Along with five other Monsters forwards getting on the board with a goal. 

Friday, February 11 Game Recap:

The second game of the weekend series was taken by the Reign, a win in dramatic fashion winning 7-6 in OT. The game-winner came from the team's point leader Junah Croteau on the powerplay, who had another two-goal night and four assists combining for an incredible six-point. Brendan Bauer also was a standout name scoring two goals as well. The Reign got contributions through the lineup with five different goal scorers, a recurring theme throughout the weekend thus far. Along with goaltender James Palmer grabbing the W making 26 saves on 32 shots. 

The Monsters lost a close one, but a strong performance altogether, scoring three goals in the second period, two of them being 39 seconds apart. Goaltender Kevin Brennan took the overtime loss but had a solid performance making 31 saves on 38 shots. The Monsters had another strong performance from Narek Aleksanyan who for the second time this weekend scored two goals. Tyler McNeil also had a two-goal night scoring his 38th and 39th goals of the season and adding two assists combining for four points on the night.

Saturday, February 12 Game Recap:

The Reign ended the weekend very strongly putting together a 6-3 win for the final time against the Fresno Monsters this season. Goaltender James Palmer had an incredible night making 54 saves on 57 shots and only allowing three goals. Arman Arayban had himself a night burring two goals both in the third period and scoring just his 2nd and 3rd goals on the season at a crucial time of the year. The big wins keep the Reign in the hunt for the fourth and final playoff spot at 31 points, catching up to the San Diego Sabers who hold the fourth place spot with 34 points. 

The Monsters had a tough night as they lost their final game against the Reign ending the series at 7-2 for the season. A tough night in net for Kevin Brennan allowing 6 goals on 32 shots and making 26 saves. Defenseman Luca Erne, who represented Team Austria at this year's World Junior Championship scored two goals, adding to his total of ten goals on the year. Narek Aleksanyan keeps himself on the scoresheet but this time putting up two assists.
