Powell Adds POTM Award to Resume

by Sebastian Abdon Ibarra

Ontario Jr Reign defenseman Baden Powell was recently named to the USPHL Premier Pacific Division Players Of The Month award list for his work in the month of November. It is Baden’s second award this season and first time he has been named as a POTM.

Baden has become an integral part of the OJR defense and attack, and has the numbers to back it up. He was on the ice for every game for the Jr Reign during the month of November and helped guide them to a 8-1-0-1 record.

In those 10 games Powell contributed seven goals and six assists, and recorded a point in seven of those games. When he scored a goal this month, he scored in bunches with three multi-goal games in a five game stretch from Nov. 12- Nov. 25.

Even when Powell went a game without a point on the game sheet, he was still making an impact with his defense. He helped the Jr Reign defense PK stop 36/41 opposing power play chances.

Then there were moments that showed just how dangerous he can be when his offense and defense work in tandem, like his goal against the Fresno Monsters that helped contribute to the miraculous Jr Reign comeback win on Nov. 25.
