Ontario Jr Reign Edged by Lake Tahoe Lakers in First Game of the Regular Season

by Callum Kemlo

Rhys Doyle had a goal and an assist, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough as the Ontario Jr Reign were edged by the Lake Tahoe Lakers by a score of 4-3 in what could easily be a preview of the playoffs come next March.

Jr Reign Matus Trnka made 22 saves on 26 shots, while Tristen Friedman and Kaedin Larocque-Wolfe also scored for the Jr Reign. Lake Tahoe benefited from depth scoring, with 4 different goal scorers and goaltender Cebald Debiak playing lights out, making 30 saves on the Jr Reign’s 33 shots. The Jr Reign were down early, with Lakers forward Alex Khammo scoring just 1 minute and 15 seconds into the game and never held the lead throughout the entire game.

Coach and GM Blumes was honest about the team's start, saying “We were disappointed in the result and in the start. We know we can execute better and will view that loss as an important lesson in terms of preparation and attention to detail.”
