Ontario Jr Reign Complete 2-Game Sweep Over Lake Tahoe

The Ontario Jr Reign finished their two-game series versus the Lake Tahoe Lakers in triumph with back-to-back wins. The series began with a 5-4 win on Monday, September 25, 2023 and was followed up with a 3-0 victory on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Monday’s game began with goals scored by Tristan Lam and Jettson Koch in the first period, with the first frame ending in a 2-1 lead for the OJR. Kaedin Larocque-Wolfe scored just 3 minutes into the second period, but Lake Tahoe responded with 2 goals of their own to tie the game heading into the 3rd period. Lake Tahoe opened the 3rd period with a goal, making the score 3-4, but the OJR responded with a powerplay goal by Cooper Kantola just 4 minutes after Lake Tahoe took the lead. Nicholas Fiolleau scored his 3rd goal of the season half-way through the third period to secure the Jr Reign’s 5-4 victory. Julian Arenal and Matus Trnka split the net with 21 saves on 25 shots, while your OJR scored 5 goals on a whopping 51 shots. The Ontario Jr Reign went 1/2 on the powerplay, while they did not take a single penalty, a franchise record, a particularly significant accomplishment after the OJR led the USPHL in penalty minutes last season.  

The Ontario Jr Reign followed up the 5-4 victory on Monday with a night of firsts, with Noah Maley and Kash Henkelman both scoring their first USPHL goal’s. Maley scored half-way through the 2nd period to open the scoring, while Henkelman scored 3 minutes into the 3rd period to make the game 2-0 OJR. Diego Flota scored the game-winning goal with 2 minutes left in the third period. Matus Trnka stopped all 20 Lake Tahoe shots, while the Jr Reign went 0 for 4 on the powerplay and did not allow a goal on the penalty kill.
