Ontario Jr Reign add Connor Vermeulen to their scouting staff

by Jen Gehringer

The Ontario Jr Reign has announced that Trinity Western University defenseman Connor Vermeulen has joined their scouting staff.

Connor became involved with hockey at a young age, taking after his father, which means he’s no stranger to Junior A hockey after playing four years in Canada in both the SJHL and AJHL.

Shortly after, Connor attended Trinity Western University to play hockey before moving on to a brief stint playing pro which was cut short due to the pandemic.

“The impact from the pandemic had a profound effect on many players who are now looking for a place to play,” said Connor. “It really shows who wants to play hockey and pursue their dreams.”

Currently, Connor has returned to Vancouver, BC to continue working on his degree while pursuing his hockey career which includes scouting.

“The two most important things I look for in potential recruits is a high level of competition and a passion for the sport which in turn builds great character.”

Ontario Jr Reign Head Coach Jeremy Blumes remarks “I coached Connor in the AJHL several seasons ago and we have kept in touch since then. Connor loves the game and has experience playing at a number of levels Junior, College, and Pro that are relevant to the players we are recruiting to our program. His insight and vast network will help bring quality people and players to our program.”

The Ontario Jr Reign’s next home game is on Saturday, December 18th at Ontario Center Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7:45 PM, tickets can be purchased online at https://www.ontariojrreign.com/admission
