OJR’s Winning Streak Reaches Double Digits

by Sebastian Abdon Ibarra

The Ontario Jr Reign (14-4-0) completed the sweep against the Lake Tahoe Lakers (8-9-0) with an 8-1 win on Sunday afternoon. The Jr Reign’s 10 straight victories now gives them identical records at home and on the road at 7-2.

The Jr Reign outscored the Lakers 21-2 in the series. Their offensive, defensive, and special teams dominance has reached new heights.

The team defense only allowed a pair of goals the past three days, which is the least amount of goals the OJR have allowed in a three game stretch. The offense has been just as good, their 21 goals over three games is also a season high. However, what’s even more impressive has been the consistency, it is the first time this season that they have scored six goals or more in three straight games. To top it all off, the OJR did this all while playing three days in a row for the first time this season.

Ontario scored five times on the powerplay and went a perfect 9/9 on the PK, both were tied for season highs, but it was the first time that they achieved both in the same game this season.

Following a shut out victory Matus Trnka got the start for the second game in a row, and continued to play well with a season high 35 saves. He picked up his fifth win of the season to go with his 2.33 GAA and 0.925 save percentage.

Nicholas Fiolleau continued his dominant two way play notching his first hat trick of the season. He has scored in seven of his past nine games, and has scored nine goals over that span. Also, second year Dman Baden Powell earned his first multi-goal game of the season along with providing stalwart work on the PK.

Mark your calendars for the Jr Reign’s return to Ontario Center Ice Arena Friday Nov. 24 at 3:55 p.m. when they welcome the Fresno Monsters. Catch all the high flying, hard hitting hockey action and purchase your tickets today!
