OJR Looks To Extend Winning Streak Vs San Diego

The Jr Reign welcome the San Diego Sabers to Ontario Center Ice Arena for a Friday night matchup. It will be the first regular-season matchup between these two rivals. The two did face off for a couple of preseason contests in which the OJR won comfortably in both. 

The Sabers enter Friday’s contest with a record of 3-10-1, and went 3-7 in the month of October. However, they have been showing signs of life lately. They have overcome a winless month to their 2023-24 season, and strangely enough do have a better record on the road this season, with two of their three wins coming away from Icetown Carlsbad. 

The Sabers have a -26 goal differential this season and have allowed an average of 5 goals per game in 14 games. Scoring does not seem to be a problem for the Sabers as they have scored 3.21 goals per game this year. 

It will be another good test for the reigning USPHL Premier West Region Goaltender Of The Week Josh Henson and this Jr Reign defense. This coming off the week where they passed with flying colors by holding the high octane offense of the Vernal Oilers to just two goals in two games. 

Some other players to highlight for this week’s games are Eamon Julian and Nicholas Fiolleau. 

Julian has been locked in as of late and is seeing the ice very well. In Monday’s game against the Oilers, he led all players in assists with his two on the night and has recorded six assists in his past three games. With another assist on Friday, he will match his total from the entire 2022-23 season. 

Fiolleau will be looking to extend his goal-scoring streak to four games. He is currently the fourth-highest scorer on the OJR squad with an even eight goals and eight assists and has recorded seven of those points in his last five games. 

So mark your calendars for this Friday, Nov. 3 at 8:40 p.m. when the Jr Reign welcome the Sabers back to Ontario Center Ice Arena for Armed Forces Appreciation Night.
