OJR Look to Keep New Winning Streak Going

The Ontario Jr Reign (28-6-0-1) face a split weekend slate of games against the Bakersfield Roughnecks (22-12-1-1) and the San Diego Sabers (10-25-1-0). It is an important final tune-up before next week’s matchup with the Fresno Monsters that will in all likelihood decide who will be crowned Pacific Division Champions. 

The Jr Reign are currently on a six-game winning streak and have won three in a row against the Roughnecks since dropping the first game of the season series. This Bakersfield squad was struggling the last time these two teams faced off, but since then they have found their rhythm once again with an 8-1 record since the new year began. 

Thanks to the 57 goals they put up in a six-game stretch against the Long Beach Shredders, the Roughnecks are only two goals behind the Jr Reign’s total for the season. While playing against the Shredders may have inflated their offensive production, the Roughnecks have an offense worth respecting. 

The Jr Reign still holds the advantage on defense by a significant margin this season, but these two sides are pretty much even when it comes to special teams. Ontario does hold a small advantage on the power play in this game where they do convert more power plays away from Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

After Friday’s game in Bakersfield, the Jr Reign will return to Ontario to take on the Sabers once again.  

Kaedin Larocque-Wolfe is the man to watch out for on the ice this weekend. He is currently the second most prolific goal scorer in the entire USPHL Premier and just pulled off a hat trick last weekend. Larocque-Wolfe has also had success this season against the Roughnecks with four goals and three assists, including a hat trick in their last meeting.
