OJR Cruise to 7-1 Win Over LBS

by Sebastian Abdon Ibarra

It was another dominant showing from the Ontario Jr Reign (32-8-0-1) against the Long Beach Shredders (6-33-0-0) on Wednesday night. The Jr Reign outshot the Shredders 65-14 and were in complete control from start to finish.

Ontario scored the first five goals of the contest, with a couple of notable goals being the first two of the season for Brandon Sandmoen and Tegan Neuman’s first goal only four games into his OJR career.

Neuman has been a welcome addition to the Ontario roster as the team prepares for a playoff push. He has recorded a point in three of his four appearances for the squad with three assists and Wednesday's goal.

Tristan Lam scored his 12th goal of the season, which ties a career-high from last season with the Bellingham Blazers and the Utica Jr Comets. Lam also has 26 assists this season, including one in this game, to give him 38 total points this season, which is a new career high.

Amir Shakirov has been dependable in defense for the Jr Reign all season, while also being a willing distributor on the attack. Shakirov not only had a season-high three assists in the contest, but he also set a new career high in assists and points in the process.

Tristen Friedman continued his breakout season with his 15th goal of the year. His 38 points this season are more than four times his point total last season with the Provo Predators.

The Jr Reign end their five-game road trip on Saturday when they wrap up the season series against the Bakersfield Roughnecks.
