Meet the OJR Coaches
Meet the OJR Coaches
At Ontario Jr Reign (OJR), we believe strong teams are built on strong leadership. Our coaching staff brings elite playing experience, proven success behind the bench, and a shared passion for helping athletes grow—on and off the ice.
Head Coach & GM – Jeremy Blumes
Jeremy brings over 25+ years of hockey experience as a coach, manager, player, scout, and executive. Known for turning programs around, he’s led teams in the AJHL, SJHL, AMHL, and KIJHL. After moving to Southern California, Blumes took OJR—an expansion team—to the playoffs on the final night of its inaugural season. Over the last three years, he’s guided OJR to a 104-27-4 record, a Pacific Division title, and a top-5 national ranking.
What Jeremy is most proud of, though, isn’t the wins—it’s the players who’ve moved on to higher levels of junior, college, and pro hockey. Off the ice, he emphasizes personal development and community impact, with players participating in outreach programs like “Road Hockey Rulez!” in local schools.
Assistant Coach – Eric Phillips
Eric brings a strong background in youth hockey, having coached with the Jr. Ducks 18U AA and Lady Ducks 14U AAA teams. Since the 2020–21 season, he’s also worked with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks as a gameday equipment manager—an experience that gives him a deep connection with today’s generation of players. Eric also runs Athlete Advisory Group, offering mentorship, video analysis, and player-specific development. His coaching style emphasizes skill growth, structure, and clear communication.
Assistant Coach – Kevin Clark
Kevin is a local Southern Californian hockey product, having played with the Ontario Senators, Midget AAA California Stars, and juniors with the Helena Bighorns and NAHL's Aberdeen Wings—earning a national championship with Helena. He continued at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. A former defensive defenseman, Kevin helps players develop their hockey sense and make confident, purpose-driven decisions on the ice.
Goalie Coach – Reed Kinsey
Reed's goalie journey began early, earning top goalie honors in the Pacific Region and playing in top events like the NAPHL Nationals. He later competed in the USPHL, WSHL, and briefly in the NAHL. He now serves as a goaltending coach at Fairmont Hockey Academy, with Kevin Bieksa, where he works with elite-level goalies on both technical and mental aspects of the game. Reed brings that same high standard to OJR—helping young goaltenders sharpen their skills and mindset.
Assistant Coach – Michael Weekly
With over 30 years of playing and nearly 20 years of coaching experience, Michael specializes in strong, smart defensive hockey. He’s coached every level from Mites to College and focuses on developing athletes who are disciplined, physical, and respectful on and off the ice.
Athletic Trainer – Jenna Janadi
Jenna is a certified athletic trainer with degrees from Cal State Fullerton and Plymouth State. She supports several programs in the region, including Capistrano Valley Christian, SoCal Blues Soccer, and the Ontario Avalanche. She enters her fifth season with the OJR continuing to play a key role in keeping OJR players healthy and ready to perform.
Operations – Lior Leibovitz
Lior brings a background in sports marketing and international pro sports experience. At OJR, he handles video content, recruiting support, scouting reports, and communication with players and families. His work helps boost the team’s visibility and assemble a competitive roster.
