Josh Henson Shuts the Door to Lead OJR Past Shredders in Convincing Fashion

by Callum Kemlo

Friday night was all Ontario as the Jr Reign beat the Long Beach Shredders with a 4-0 victory, including a short-handed goal by forward Tristan Lam to open the scoring. Not to be outdone, Rhys Doyle continued his hot streak, scoring once to raise his goal total to 4. Forward Edward Pukhalsky, a Tohana, CA native, scored his first of the season. Kash Henkelman also scored while Diego Flota assisted on two of the team's 4 goals.

Tristan Lam opened scoring 9 minutes into the first, while Edward Pukhalsky and Rhys Doyle scored within 2 minutes of each other to close a dominant first period for the Jr Reign. Kash Henkelman rounded out the scoring early into the second to cement the Jr Reign’s victory.

Ontario’s dominance was obvious, with the team’s shots on goal sitting at a comfortable 56 shots for the game. Ontario Jr Reign goalie Josh Henson stopped all 19 shots he faced throughout the game.

Following the win, Head Coach and GM Blumes said "Henson was focused and poised, when a goalie performs that way it leads to confidence throughout the lineup. It was great seeing some players that have played limited minutes this season, contribute on the scoresheet. Kash has put in extra work every day after practice since trying camp and that extra work is paying dividends now. Great to see .”

The Jr Reign are back in action next week Friday Oct. 27 840 PM when they host the Vernal Oilers at Ontario Center Ice Arena. Catch all the high flying, hard hitting hockey action and purchase your tickets today!
