Hockey Halloween Spook-tacular - Ontario Jr Reign Welcome Vernal Oilers To Ontario

by Sebastian Abdon Ibarra

Fresh off of last week’s sweep of Long Beach, the Ontario Jr Reign will host the Vernal Oilers for a two game series at Ontario Center Ice Arena. It will be Ontario’s first series against a non-division opponent this season. The Oilers come into this series undefeated with a record of 5-0-1.

In six games this season the Oilers have a +31 goal differential. They are a well balanced squad, scoring 7.34 goals per game and surrendering only 2.17 goals per game. They should provide a formidable test for a Jr Reign team that is finding its rhythm as of late, earning a 4-2 record in their last six contests.

The Jr Reign will look to continue their excellent performances from this past week, where they dominated the Long Beach Shredders for two consecutive games. The OJR has demonstrated steady improvement over the past six contests. The numbers look even better when you narrow it down to the past four. Since Oct. 6, Ontario holds a +10 goal differential, has scored 4.25 goals per game, and has only allowed a meager 1.75 goals per game. The great defense and goaltending have made particularly significant strides since the beginning of the year. If the Jr Reign can continue on their upward trajectory, there can be some important games awaiting them down the line.

Kaiden Laroque Wolfe, Josh Henson, and Eamon Julian are a couple of players to keep an eye out for this Friday.

Laroque Wolfe is still the leading goal scorer and points leader for the Jr Reign this season and can always be counted on to get Ontario on the board in one way or another with a 1.8 ppg average this season.

Henson earned his first shutout of the season last Friday and has been a steady presence in net. He has a 4-1 record, 1.72 goals allowed average, and a 0.932 save percentage this season through five games.

With his three assists in the Jr Reign’s last contest, Captain Julian is the hot hand at the moment. It was certainly his best performance of the season so far and he will look to carry over this performance this Friday against the Oilers.

The Hockey Halloween Spooktacular will have something for everyone, along with the high-flying, hard-hitting hockey action there will be special musical performances by Mitchell James and Tino Relz, a Halloween costume contest, Bubba’s tasty Tacos and ice cold beer and adult beverages courtesy of Firewater Bar.

Then mark your calendars and set your alarms for the Monday morning match-up on Oct. 30th , 10:25 AM to wrap up the two game series.
