Henson’s Dominance Nets Him POTW Honors

by Sebastian Abdon Ibarra

Ontario Jr Reign goaltender Josh Henson was announced as a USPHL Premier West Region Player Of The Week last Thursday. He was honored for his efforts in the two Jr Reign victories on Oct. 20 and 22. It was a well-deserved award, across both games Henson saved 37 of 39 shots, including his first shutout of the season.

It is the first time an OJR player has won the award this season.

The honor has been a long time coming for the Jr Reign goalie, as he has been a mainstay in front of the net this season. Henson currently holds a 6-1 record with a 0.946 save percentage and has only allowed one and a half goals per game. Including, holding a high-powered Vernal Oilers offense that had scored 7.34 goals per game coming into their series with the Jr Reign, to a single goal in each of their two meetings.

Since his first start on Sept. 30, he has been a significant contributor to the Jr Reign’s efforts to help Ontario get on their five-game winning streak and turn a 4-3 record at the end of Sept. into a 9-4 record at the beginning of Nov.
