Captain Max Kathol has committed to San Diego State University
USPHL Reign forward and captain Max Kathol has committed to San Diego State University.
When the Ontario Jr. Reign began their second season in the USPHL against the Long Beach Shredders, Max made an immediate impact. Collecting 1 goal, 3 assists and physically dominating at both ends of the rink. Captain Kathol maintained that elite level throughout the entire season participating in all 46 games, finishing third among all scorers for the team with 27 goals and 48 assists.
Max received the Leadership Award from the Ontairo Jr. Reign and was named Forward of the Week on multiple occasions in the USPHL Pacific Division for his efforts. He proved over and over again that everyone on the ice could look up to him to lead the charge.
“The Ontario Jr Reign gave me the necessary development and exposure to make it to the collegiate level,” said Max Kathol. “My commitment to San Diego State would not be possible without the staff's dedication and desire to advance players in their program.”
Head Coach and General Manager Jeremy Blumes commented "Kathol is a relentless, physical 200 ft player. Max’s character, intangibles, and experience all played a role in him leading us to our clubs best record to date. SDSU has signed a true warrior.”
Blumes continued "Max came down here after two seasons in the SJHL and expressed an interest in a post-secondary opportunity along with a quality hockey program, as a coach it is tremendously rewarding to play a role in Max achieving his goal.”
The Ontario Jr Reign organization would like to congratulate Max and his family on this accomplishment and wish him all the best on and off the ice next season with San Diego State University.
