Alumni Spotlight: Jackson Wade
The Ontario Jr. Reign's primary objective is player development on and off the ice.
Defenseman Jackson Wade, hailing from Calgary, Alberta, was the franchise's first ever captain. While posting 14 points for the silver and black, it was Wade’s physical play and leadership abilities that earned him the “C”.
Jr. Reign head coach and general manager Jeremy Blumes was very familiar with Wade’s physical play as well as leadership ability, as they crossed paths in the KIJHL with the Golden Rockets.
Wade recalls the way Blumes interacted with the team saying, “I liked his intensity, mentality and I honestly like the way he ran the room, it was very cut and dry, this is what we do, and this is how we do it, and let's go and do it.”
Some of his favorite memories with the Jr. Reign were beating the Lake Tahoe Lakers late in the season to make the playoffs, as well as playing volleyball on the beach with the boys almost every week.
Jackson is currently attending the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada where he has a Bachelor of Art, in general social sciences, while in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Education, in physical education.
“I actually study leadership now as part of my education degree and that really and truly did really spark in Ontario,” Wade said. “I was always kind of like what people would consider a natural leader in a lot of ways, but I would say that being the captain was one of the bigger influences to know what I wanted to do.”
The Ontario Jr. Reign congratulates Jackson on his achievements on and off the ice. We will continue to provide our players the foundation to pursue their passions as we uphold our core values of hockey, education, and life skills.
